Holidays

We've had a lot of fun with Sam's parents so far. We saw Return of the King, which was good but a bit long. And Cold Mountain, which reminded me of the English Patient. We've watched many episodes of Elimidate, which Darien thinks is outrageous. We've gone to the lake, to the campus, to the waterfalls, and to some restaurants. Tomorrow we leave for Montreal. I'm really excited because it will be my first time there. Supposedly they have great bagels.

Back in Ithaca

We made it back to Ithaca last night. The total trip length was 14 hours. We had a great time- I'll post a picture later. Right now we have to catch up on everything at home and prepare for Sam's parent's arrival.

What do you think of our tree? We don't have any ornaments yet, but I think it looks nice and our machete came in handy. And the important thing is that it smells great!

Feliz Cumpleanos

Happy Birthday Bob! Even though you might have suspected that you'd get a post on my website, I hope it was still special for you!

Seasons

There is a full moon out today. I love to see it before it gets dark, in the haze of a winter evening. I made potato leek soup for lunch today and I realized that I love the seasons. Before, we were considering moving to Portland or Seattle after Cornell, but now we're considering Colorado because it gets more sun and has seasons.

Christmas Baby

My friend Gretchen had a baby girl yesterday! Her daughter is named Quinn Noel, and is beautiful. She was born at UCSF and weighs 6 pounds 10 ounces and was about 2 weeks early. She has blondish brown hair and perfect lips. I wish I could see her!

Icicles out my window

It's really winter here. The snow has stuck for a few days now and even though today was warm (36 degrees) and the snow was melting, we're supposed to get 2 storms in the next 24-48 hours. So I was thinking that we should donate our extra coats to the goodwill. If Davis, CA needed blankets, Ithaca must need these coats and they just hang in our closets until the odd day that we wear them. My only concern is that our visitors may need some coats.

OFFICIAL wedding plans

I have had such a hard time finding a wedding place, but finally we've booked something and so it shouldn't change again. We're having our wedding in Cancun, Mexico somewhere during Aug 9-13 2004, probably on Aug 9. It should be cheaper for everyone to get to and stay at and we can still have an exotic location. I hope that those of you that come will enjoy it as much as we will.

$7.50 Tuesday

I found out that if I go to the far theater it is actually $5 mondays, not tuesdays. But not to waste a fine walk in the snow, I watched "Pieces of April". Almost every movie I've seen in these independent theaters has been good. This one was no exception. It was really moving and I will probably see it again one day.

Preparations

We got our camera fixed in time for our travels this December. We found an advent calendar with chocolates for 99 cents to count down the days till christmas. We also put up some christmas lights in our room. All we need now is a tree. Other preparations, like this wedding, aren't so easy. We've ran into so many snags. The one thing keeping me going is that I have a dress that can't be wasted on eloping.
